This summer we used the TEAM GOD curriculum for a five-day outreach to equip kids here in my hometown. TEAM GOD teaches the importance of integrity, serving, teamwork, excellence and team spirit. We had a remarkable week thanks to prayer, preparation, parent volunteers and kids who were quite possibly the most cooperative bunch I've ever seen! Below is a video highlighting the week.
In addition to the teachings, skits and activities offered in the curriculum, we added a few things to make our week fun and keep order in our days:
Worship music came from www.kenblountministries.com.
We offered snack time with sports themed snacks. While kids ate we played audio stories from Adventures in Odyssey that related to our theme for each day. This offered a great "quiet time." Audio theater available from www.whitsend.org.
On our "service" themed day, kids made a care package to thank our local fire department for their service to our community.
As an incentive to bring their Bibles, bring friends, memorize scripture, etc., we stocked a "Spirit Store" with fun, yet healthy prizes. A serious favorite of the kids were these healthy energy drinks: http://www.amway.com/Shop/Product/Product.aspx/XS-Energy-Drinks?itemno=219&dsNav=N:4294966625&pwsID=SimeonLang
I'm all about having fun while having order. These ideas really helped!
